On every eligible Mariner Club sailing, members can enjoy a complimentary shoreside event lead by our Mariner Club hosts. These day-trip excursions vary depending on the cruise destination, and are designed to enlighten Mariners to interesting cultural landmarks or traditions of their ports of call.Sample Mariner Club shoreside events include the following destinations: Punta Arenas, Chile Estancia Fitz Roy on Riesco Island, founded more than 100 years ago, is now a “living” museum. You’ll be welcomed by the hospitable Chilean “baqueanos,” expert sheep farmers who have made this region famous throughout the world. After an exhibition of the farm’s traditional activities, you’ll relax in a warm, covered quincho and enjoy a barbecue of well-prepared, tasty Patagonian lamb accompanied by tasty Chilean drinks. After lunch you can stroll around the farm, enjoy horseback riding, or take a ride on a tetra motorbike.
Buenos Aires, Argentina Your first stop in Buenos Aires is Caminito Street, a collection of brightly painted houses featuring an artisans’ fair, open-air tango shows and typical Italian cantinas. Next, en route to famous Café Tortoni, view the Casa Rosada balcony from which Evita addressed the Argentine people and pass through the charming riverside neighborhood of San Telmo. Following your transfer to La Recoleta a fashionable area best known for its astonishing necropolis, you’ll enjoy a typical Argentine lunch and drive through the picturesque neighborhood of Palermo to visit the Evita Museum.
Jerusalem & Bethlehem, Israel Take a historic drive through the Judean mountains to Bethlehem. You can visit the Church of the Nativity, near the place where Christ is said to have been born, and after some free time to explore or shop, continue on to Jerusalem. After lunch, a panoramic tour of Jerusalem introduces you to the city’s main sites, ending with a gradual climb to the Mount of Olives for a magnificent view over the “Golden City.” Your last stop will be a visit to the Wailing Wall, one of the holiest sites in the world for the Jewish people.
Kusadasi, Turkey Our first stop along the Aegean coast is a first-century stone chapel marking where Mother Mary is said to have spent her last days. Afterwards, enjoy the panoramic drive down to the ancient city of Ephesus, an architectural masterpiece some 4,000 years old. Your guide will bring the city back to life as you stroll its marble streets and afterwards, you can enjoy a traditional lunch in Selcuk town, a visit to the Ephesus museum and shopping or exploring in Kusadasi.
