When you are on your Shanghai vacation, you will immediately see both eastern and Western influence architecturally. Homes were built with historic “shikumen”, a mix of Eastern tradition with European design schemes.
This 1000+ year-old city was mostly Chinese until it granted concessions in the 1800’s to eight nations, who were able to build their own settlements in the city.
Highlights: Shopping on Nanjing Road and French Concession streets, see the historic buildings of the riverfront in The Bund, the traditional People’s Square in Huangpu, the gardens and Temples in Old City, Zhujiajiao, WaterTown, Shanghai Museum, and Yuyuan Gardens, among others.
