My thirst for adventure started at a young age, but professionally I was just 18 years old when I became a flight attendant for TWA. While my first destination was not too exciting (Kansas City), it was the beginning of a life long passion for travel. I sharply remember looking out the window at the world below, filled with amazement and excitement at how beautiful the world was.
If I had to describe my travel style, it is one of wonder and adventure. I don’t think of myself as particularly brave, quite the opposite. But seeing exotic places and being presented with the opportunity to experience the spectacular, I push myself to not be left behind. When I first went to Grand Cayman, I was not a strong swimmer, but as I saw friends and others around me sign up for scuba diving, I knew I had to try it to. Little did I know that this small first step was the just the beginning.
I can proudly say that I have traveled on all 7 continents. While I have been everywhere, I tell my clients that my true specialty is the once in a lifetime trip, because chances are I have done it twice myself! I focus on exotic, adventurous and top bucket-listed experiences that travelers think back on for years. With more than 30 years as a travel agent, I have so much experience in my own travels that I can point you in the right direction on what to eat, how much time you need based on your travel pace, and local adventures that are at the heart of each destination.
Many people ask me about my travel experience, and there is SO MUCH to share! Not only have I done it all, I personally book it all myself, developing life long friendships and relationships in the travel industry that lead to unrivaled experiences for my clients. One of my other areas of focus include leading luxury travel groups twice a year for the last 25 years, and each trip is “the trip of a lifetime!” I have traveled to the great Pyramids of Egypt, slept in a tent in the sandy dunes of Morocco, and traveled to Katmandu on Elephant Safari to find the elusive Bengal Tiger. I have walked the Great wall of China, drank Yak milk in Tibet (not my favorite), and have seen the Taj Mahal and rhinos in India. I have sailed the majestic Halong Bay in Vietnam, stepped back in time at the ruins of Cambodia and experienced a traditional ryokan (hot spring) in Japan. I am no stranger to the South Pacific, chartering my own boat to sail the islands of Tahiti, staying on Marlon Brando’s private Island of Tetitora, tasting kava in a traditional Fijian ceremony, exploring the glaciers and geothermal wonders of New Zealand, roaming the Australian outback on a luxury vintage train, the Ghan. I have feed monkeys in Costa Rica, cruised down the Amazon and met the incredible native people who live in the jungles of Brazil, and climbed through the ruins of Machu Picchu in Peru. I love the wines and cuisine of Chile, a magical place that melded together so many unique cultures, I felt like I was in Europe, South America and North America, all at the same time!
I have been to every country in western Europe, and love to use Paris, Amsterdam and London as a first and last stop just to relax before continuing. I have traveled to Russia, Turkey, and am slowly making my way through eastern Europe where I discovered my new favorite stop in Croatia. I have also made an effort to experience the best here at home in the USA, sailing along the islands and wetlands of the Carolinas, hundreds of trips to New York, San Francisco and Miami. I have explored the deep northern areas of Alaska and Canada, riding the Rocky Mountaineer through the most beautiful mountains and cities of Canada and traveling deep into the Alaskan wilderness to view grizzly bears in the wild. I have explored the Canadian Maritimes, and traveled beyond the northern tip of the Americas to Antarctica. I have slept in the Artic Ice Hotel, watched the aura Borealis dance across the skies while dog sledding, and ate the biggest crab legs ever seen, freshly pulled from the ice depths.
But my deepest love is Africa. I have been 8 times, seeing a new country and trying a new experience. I have seen the great migration of the Serengeti in Tanzania, boated on Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, stayed and fed the giraffes at Giraffe Manor in Kenya, saw the African Penguins in South Africa, cruised in the mokoro canoes in the waters of Botswana among the hippos, watched the beautiful sunsets of Zanzibar, and gorilla trekking in Rwanda. Gorilla trekking was so incredible that I am going to do it again, this time in Uganda.
I could spend pages and many hours telling you about the magical experiences that I have, but I want to talk to YOU about your vision for your once in a lifetime trip. What is the feeling you want to capture, what are the sights you want to see? Call me, let’s talk about making your dream adventure a reality!
