Alaska
. . . Back to Nature
Glaciers, Wildlife, and Wilderness
We think that most all of us who travel to Alaska have images of what it will
be like . . . visions of landscapes, wildlife, and “real” experiences
that make us feel we are back to nature. Yes, indeed . . . discovering the quintessential
Great Land is truly a magnificent opportunity. But what are some of the quintessential
Great Land experiences? What truly makes this Last Frontier – its vastness,
its wilderness, its true frontier spirit – so authentic? What can you do
to make sure you experience the best of Alaska?
. . . Fly with the eagles! Take a flightseeing tour. The perspective gained from
aloft is priceless and you will be awed by the sheer magnitude of nature exhibited
from this level. You will probably look down on moose standing in turquoise lakes,
bears slapping salmon from rushing creeks, and you’ll see ice fields that
seem to stretch to eternity.
. . . Travel nature’s highways! There may be no better way to “sneak
up” on nature than by floating silently down a river in a raft. Moving
at the pace of the current, you will see “life” and landscapes as
you’ve never seen it before. Denali National Park is known for its abundant
wildlife and wilderness scenery. That exhilarating combination is sure to making
rafting the Nenana River an unforgettable experience!
. . . Into to the wild Yukon! The gem of the Canadian Parks system, Kluane National
Park and Reserve, offers such pristine wilderness that it has been declared a
UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is largely undeveloped and therefore one of the
best ways to explore is on foot. There are beautiful day hikes that will give
a marvelous overview of its wonders – from immense ice fields to lush valleys
and lots of wildlife.
.
. . The Circle of Life! Alaska is home to over 98% of the U.S. brown bear population
and Katmai National Park has the highest concentration of brown bears in the
world. In fact, in certain places where the bears congregate to feed on salmon,
special bear-watching platforms have been erected. Other popular locations include
Icy Strait Point neat Juneau, Neets Bay near Ketchikan, and Redoubt Bay near
Anchorage. In addition seeing the bears, watching the humpback whales is equally
as popular. How exciting to see these magnificent creatures form nets of bubbles
to catch their food or seeing the six-foot-tall fins of a pod of orcas break
the surface!
We can recommend a cruise, cruisetour, or land vacation that will ensure a wilderness
experience to last a lifetime! Please give us a call or stop by. We work with
several terrific cruise lines and tour companies and can recommend and arrange
the perfect itinerary for your Alaska adventure. And we hope that when you get
back home “with these experiences under your belt”. . . you will
truly know that you have explored a place where nature rules and where it is
still possible to be surprised by what lies next beyond the horizon. Alaska .
. . Back to Nature . . . Nature that is filled to the brim with glaciers, wildlife,
and wilderness!
