Hertz Expands Company-wide
Environmental Initiatives
HERTZ. We are pleased to tell you that as the world’s largest general-use
rental company, Hertz has recently expanded its signature Green Collection.
This collection – featuring environmentally friendly, fuel efficient,
family-sized vehicles – will be enhanced with a planned $68 million
investment in 3,400 reservable Toyota Prius hybrid vehicles. The Green Collection
and the introduction of hybrid vehicles will complement the 105,000 EPA SmartWay™ certified
cars currently in the Company’s rental fleet. This announcement served
to mark another phase in Hertz’s company-wide initiative to promote
environmental sustainability in “all aspects of our business.” The
Hertz Green Collection will allow you to reserve (and the Company guarantees)
specific makes and models of higher mileage, environmentally-friendly mid-
and full-sized cars. This guarantee is a key distinction and not offered
by any other national car rental company. This impressive Green Collection
was launched September, 2006, and includes over 35,000 other environmentally
friendly vehicles – besides the Toyota Prius hybrid – with
an average EPA highway fuel efficiency rating of at least 31 mpg. Please
call us now to make your Green Collection vehicle reservation and for more
information.

Korean Air is one of the world’s top 12 passenger airlines with one
of the industry’s
most modern fleets. If your vacation or business plans take you to Asia,
we encourage you to consider Korean Air. Why? This airline flies to more
cities in Asia (including over 20 cities in China) than any other airline
from North America. For luxury travel, Korean Air’s first-class product
is considered “better than a private jet.” Their first-class
sleeper seats recline to a 180-degree horizontal bed, while seats in business
class lie comfortably flat. Additional amenities for passengers include a
choice of almost 50 movie titles and hundreds of tunes to enjoy. Food and
beverage service begins with Dom Perignon as “standard” in first-class
and each delightful meal is served on Wedgwood china. This award-winning
airline continues to receive accolades year after year for its superb in-flight
service, food, and beverage. In fact, the airline has noticed that passengers
are keeping the laptops closed and opting for rest and relaxation as they
take advantage of the excellent service. Named the “best transpacific
service” by Business Traveler Magazine, Korean Air serves the following
gateways in the western part of the United States: Las Vegas, Los Angeles,
San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver and also Honolulu. (Additional U.S. gateways

Presently, Korean Air is the leader to Asia from Los Angeles, with San Francisco
emerging as a very important market as well. In fact, San Francisco is North
America’s second largest market for travel to China, and China is Korean
Air’s second home market. As such, San Francisco passengers now have
more options to travel in exceptional comfort to such key destinations as
Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong.
Please give us a call, we look forward to handling all of your arrangements
for your upcoming trip to Asia aboard Korean Air – well known for its “excellence

The Pacific Realm . . .
Getaway – Far Away!
Like a giant, great blue tablecloth, the region known as the Pacific Rim
stretches from the “Down Under” immensity of Australia to the
relative smallness of Easter Island. This region can showcase a paradise
of land and water like no other place on earth. It is endlessly compelling – filled
with unique and curious customs – some familiar; some not. Pacific
Rim countries – those bordering the Pacific Ocean from North and South
America to Asia and Oceania – include such popular destinations as
Australia, New Zealand, China and Japan as well as the South American countries
of Peru, Chile and Ecuador.
One of the best ways to experience and enjoy these foreign destinations is
to have your travel plans personalized – just for you and your traveling
companions. We can arrange a personalized, deluxe vacation that includes
your own tour guides and driver, hotel accommodations and air arrangements – that
suit your interests, budget and time frame. Here are just a few of our favorite
countries that border the Pacific Rim…
•
ECUADOR – The smallest country in the rugged Andean highlands, Ecuador
has an array of vibrant indigenous cultures, well-preserved colonial architecture,
otherworldly volcanic landscapes and dense rain forest – and all in
a nation no bigger than the state of Nevada. The country features a variety
of activities: Mountain biking, climbing, rafting and scuba diving, as well
as visiting archaeological sites, museums or theaters. Ecuador is one of
the most biodiverse countries in the world, so there are unique places where
you will find the most incredible flora and fauna, from tiny hummingbirds to
huge humpback whales. The main tourist attractions include the Galapagos
Islands, Chimborazo and Cotopaxi in the Andean region, the Ecuadorian Coast,
Guayaquil and the Sunshine Route, the Amazon region, and the colonial churches
of Quito and Cuenca. An absolute “must see” are the Galapagos
Islands. Go eyeball-to-eyeball with the Galapagos marine iguana; witness
the feeding frenzy of blue-footed boobies and snorkel with playful sea lion
pups . . . the Galapagos Islands are unbelievable!
•
CHILE - This is truly a country of extremes and superlatives. It is just a
bit larger than Texas and boasts the world’s driest desert, vast and
verdant temperate rainforests, more than 2,500 miles of beaches, spectacular
inland seas where glaciers reach the coast and many of the continent’s
highest peaks, world-class ski slopes, world-renowned vineyards and world-class
wines, and vibrant, sophisticated cities. The remote – yet nearby – Pacific
islands of Robinson Crusoe and Easter Island are sure to add touches of romance
and mystery to your deluxe Chilean adventure.
•
CHINA – Besides being one of the oldest nations on earth (its recorded
history dates back 5,000 years), China is the third largest nation on earth,
and is also known as one of the most intriguing travel destinations on earth.
This magnificent country will appeal to those of us who want to visit and learn
about a culture very different from our own. China truly encompasses every
type of terrain imaginable from the steamy lowlands of the southeast to the
Himalayan peaks of Tibet to the Gobi Desert in the north. In fact, Chinas is
bordered by 14 other countries! The main attractions include Hong Kong for
shopping, sightseeing and fine dining; Tibet, pandas, The Great Wall, Chinese
opera, the Forbidden City, as well as Beijing and Shanghai – now considered “two
of the most dynamic cities in the world”!
•
KOREA – South Korea, known as “The Land of the Morning Calm,” is
a very mountainous country full of wonderful pockets of traditional culture
and unspoiled scenery – ranging from the vibrant sights and sounds of
Seoul to the peace and quiet of the Haeinsa Temple or Seoraksan National Park.
Korean culture is focused on balancing the yin and yang, the hot and cold – and
the country is “best seen with a sense of balance in mind.” The
frenzy of the city balanced with the tranquility of the country side should
give you a solid introduction to one of the world’s oldest cultures.
A “snapshot” of South Korea’s foremost attractions would
include Buddhist temples, mountain climbing, hiking, beautiful scenery, hot
springs and spas, beaches, palaces, casinos, museums, snow skiing, traditional
dance and music, cultural performances and shopping. Food is different from
that in the rest of Asia – it’s generally considered spicy and
salty. You will also find that is as “vital” a part of Korean culture
as its food, with several varieties of rice wine available for sampling. Unique
gifts to bring back home run the gamut from ornate macramé tassels,
lacquer ware and silks to beautiful handmade paper. Even though the country
is relatively small – there is a lot to see and do.
•
NEW ZEALAND - This is one adventurous destination! Walk amongst ancient rain
forests, swim with dolphins, kayak on the fjords, soak in natural hot springs,
picnic on a remote mountain peak, bungy jump off a bridge, zorb down a hill,
cycle through vineyards or hike on a glacier. You can chose from the North
Island or the South Island – or both – for your Kiwi getaway. Please
give us a call so we can help you plan your vacation with such intriguing themes
as “Wonders and Wildlife,” “Pure and Natural New Zealand,” or
the “Ultimate Adventure”! Kia Ora! Welcome to New Zealand . . .
the active way!
